Dear Y’s Men/Youth leaders,
Tomorrow is my last working day at the International Headquarters of Y’s Men. I am now officially finishing my term as Youth Intern 07/08. Yes, time goes by so fast. I would like to say I have been blessed and privileged to work here and to learn so many different things through this experience. I appreciate very much all the cooperation and support received from you.
Since my parents have been active in Y’s Men in Korea for many years, I had been a Y’s Ling for a long time. I started being fully involved in Y’s Youth activities eight years ago through the International Youth Convocation Hong Kong 2000. After being the coordinator of the Asia Area Youth Convocation 2005 and participating as a facilitator in the IYC Busan 2006, I started a new Y’s Youth Club in Seoul , Korea . In 2007, I applied for the Youth Intern 2007/08 in Geneva .
Therefore, during the last one year in Geneva , I was very motivated and excited about planning the International Youth Convocation 08 held in Denmark last summer. For me, it was an absolutely wonderful experience to have the opportunity to chair and to be the organizer of this pleasant event. This particular task, among the other responsibilities of the Youth Intern, has been my main focus to concentrate and work on. This experience has improved my communication skills, especially with dealing and cooperating with people of different cultures. It has made me think about ‘Leadership’, ‘Team working’ and ‘Friendship’. Furthermore, it encouraged me to improve myself and to learn how to be organized. Now, I am so proud that the IYC 08 was a big success and we had a wonderful time. I thank you for your great support.
In fact, when I arrived in Geneva , I was surprised to know how much the Youth Intern can contribute to Y’s Men. So, I tried to be responsible and do my best to live up to your expectation. I am grateful that Y’s Men gave me this amazing opportunity. I specially thank all my colleagues at IHQ and ISG Rolando Dalmas. I always felt protected since they were my family for one year.
Now, I am hoping to gain more international experiences. Please wish me luck.
Y’sly,
Aeree Baik
